Halloween in Eugene

I have a lot of catching up to do on our blog since our move, but knew that the grandparents would want to see pictures of Deals in her costume ASAP before I got around to sorting through the last couple months worth of photographs.

We haven't even been in Eugene for two months yet, but managed to schedule a fun week's worth of Halloween activities for the family.  First, I chaperoned her first field trip to a pumpkin farm where she went on a hayride, picked out a pumpkin, fed goats, shared a picnic lunch with classmates (and an apple cider donut with Mom).  She told me that the best part of the day was riding on a school bus.

Next up was her favorite part of the week - ballet class- where the students were allowed to wear their Halloween costume and parents were allowed to observe.  This was the perfect opportunity to debut the first Halloween costume that Deals choose herself (after I picked out her hand-me-down cowgirl costume from Texan friend for the last two years) ... Angelina Ballerina!

Then we were off to a pizza and pumpkin carving party.  She scooped out the pumpkin by herself, and then Daddy let her design her own jack-o-lantern with a special tool that she used to poke holes showing Daddy where to carve.

We think she did an amazing job.  Impressive work and determination for a not-quite 3 1/2-year-old!

Finally, it was time for the main event, and we joined friends for a potluck dinner and trick-or-treating.  What a difference from our shy toddler last year- we were really proud of how polite she was, remembering to thank everyone for her treats, and she had just as much fun passing out candy to kids that came to the door.
